  • Three years as cook/housekeeper/gardener followed by three and a half years with the additional duties of caretaker, hostess, bookkeeper, and recreation manager as the sole full-time employee for a remote backcountry lodge that accomodated 10-24 guests.
  • Planned menus, procured food, cooked, and served three meals/day, did daily housekeeping services and lodge cleaning, and served as lodge hostess for guests. Responsible for maintenance of lodge, spa, and outbuildings, and general caretaking, cleaning and security of property and owners' homes. Seasonally cared for cattle, horses, and game birds. Responsible for reservations/bookings, promotions, retail sales and inventory, associated bookkeeping, monthly and annual reporting.
  • Planned, planted and maintained organic vegetable garden, organic herb garden and fruit orchard. Responsible for upkeep of the landscaped grounds, irrigation system, fences, noxious weed control, and maintenance of equipment and machinery.

  • Head cook for a seasonal western guest ranch for 22 crew and 35 guests. Planned and prepared four meals a day, managed the kitchen and dining room staff, maintained the inventory and rotation of stock.

  • Testing department manager and project manager for a computer sofware development and commercial website/database design company. Organization and oversight of the testing cycle in software development. Project manager on eleven commercial projects at the conclusion of the software development cycle.

  • Developed PC and Unix-based computer applications and trained faculty and staff in the use of various network software. Designed, wrote, and produced departmental publications including training manuals, user manuals, handbooks, brochures, and newsletters. Served as a Banner Superuser for all module implementations through 1996.
  • Responsibilities included initial advising of incoming undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science, undecided students assigned to the Department for advising, and monitoring student progress through the program. Trained new CS faculty in UI advising policies and procedures and served as a resource for undergraduate advisors.
  • Additional duties included development and coordination of office procedures, recruitment, department promotion, documentation procedures, management of the chair's schedules and travel planning. Managed fiscal and material resources including preparing, managing, and regular reporting and projections of all grants, contracts, and budgets. Supervised, trained, and motivated irregular help and workstudy personnel in office and University procedures and policies.
